About GeneEver

GeneEver is established in order to develop and commercialize solutions for safe long-term storage of different types of biological/genetic material with the associated data and information in the same storage device. GeneEver is based on many years of R&D and innovation work in close contact with well-respected institutions and industry players in Norway and abroad.

The first product/service to be launched is a newly developed "co-storage device" (cryoBox) for co-storage of living plants and associated data. Then will follow solutions for co-storage of seeds and data, and finally further development of this into solutions for co-storage in the human and animal fields. We will also explore the possibility of further developing our conservation solution for viruses for e.g. the use within research and development of vaccines (a hot topic in these COVID-19 times).
The world's genetic diversity is under pressure. This applies to plants, insects, fish and animals. Particularly serious is that genetic resources, species, varieties, seeds and clone-informed material related to food production and benefit crops are lost. Seed banks and cryopreservation laboratories are working purposefully to preserve genetic material from plants, fish and animals.

On the human side, genetic material is also being worked on over time, including tissue samples, stem cells and DNA. The same happens with the development of methods of safe preservation of viruses over time. A major challenge related to genetic material stored over time is to preserve the associated information/data since it is stored in a different location (and on many different mediums) than the genetic material. There is currently no solution for such co-storage.

The related information is just as important

The related information is just as important! The two companies Piql and Grønn Næringskompetanse (GNK), have developed solutions for cryopreserved material and seeds co-stored with associated data, through a series of scientific research and development projects Development and expertise in the field have now come so far that a separate company has now been established with the aim of commercialising the results of this work. The rights granted by Piql and GNK from these projects have therefore been transferred to the newly created company GeneEver. What GeneEver is now doing is developing a holistic and innovative digital service with the online data management portal and ordering data transferred to a secure photosensitive long-term preservation medium, to be co-stored with genetic material.
